File Package Instructions

Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign files need to be packaged in order to be sure all the required elements are available.

  1. Open your INDD file in InDesign.
  2. If possible, resolve any errors concerning missing links or fonts.
  3. Go to File: Package.
  4. Click the Package button at the bottom of the Summary window (This window was called the preflight window in older versions).
  5. Click continue on the “Printing Instructions” window (most people ignore these instructions).
  6. Browse to where you’d like to create the package folder (desktop would be fine) and enter the name of the folder.
  7. Make sure that the “Copy Fonts,” “Copy Linked Graphics,” “Update Graphic Links in Package,” and “Include Fonts and Links from Hidden….” are all checked. Other boxes should be unchecked.
  8. Click the package button.
  9. Find the new folder that InDesign created and verify that it contains copies of all required files.
  10. Right-click the folder and choose “Compress” (Mac) or “Send to ZIP” (Windows, might be something different but similar depending on what software you have installed). This will zip it up.
  11. Choose the red SEND ARTWORK button on the TigerPress website to transmit your zipped file.

Adobe Illustrator

Illustrator files need to be packaged in order to be sure all the required elements are available. As an alternative to the instructions below you may also convert all text to paths and embed any linked graphics.

  1. Open your AI file in Illustrator.
  2. If possible, resolve any errors concerning missing links or fonts.
  3. Go to File: Package.
  4. Select all the check boxes.
  5. Browse to where you’d like to create the package folder (desktop would be fine) and enter the name of the folder.
  6. Click the PACKAGE button.
  7. Find the new folder that Illustrator created and verify that it contains copies of all required files.
  8. Right-click the folder and choose “Compress” (Mac) or “Send to ZIP” (Windows, might be something different but similar depending on what software you have installed). This will zip it up.
  9. Choose the red SEND ARTWORK button on the TigerPress website to transmit your zipped file.

QuarkXPress

QuarkXPress files need to be packaged in order to be sure all the required elements are available.

  1. Open your QXP file in QuarkXPress.
  2. If possible, resolve any errors concerning missing links or fonts.
  3. Go to File: Collect for output.
  4. Select all the check boxes EXCEPT report only.
  5. Browse to where you’d like to create the package folder (desktop would be fine) and enter the name of the folder.
  6. Click the SAVE button.
  7. Find the new folder that QuarkXPress created and verify that it contains copies of all required files.
  8. Right-click the folder and choose “Compress” (Mac) or “Send to ZIP” (Windows, might be something different but similar depending on what software you have installed). This will zip it up.
  9. Choose the red SEND ARTWORK button on the TigerPress website to transmit your zipped file.

Microsoft Publisher

Publisher files need to be packaged in order to be sure all the required elements are available.

  1. Open your PUB file in Publisher.
  2. Go to File: Pack and Go: Take to a Commercial Printing Service.
  3. If possible, resolve any errors concerning missing links or fonts.
  4. Click the SAVE button.
  5. Browse to where you’d like to create the package folder (desktop would be fine) and enter the name of the folder.
  6. Click the FINISH button.
  7. Find the new folder that QuarkXPress created and verify that it contains copies of all required files.
  8. Right-click the folder and choose “Compress” (Mac) or “Send to ZIP” (Windows, might be something different but similar depending on what software you have installed). This will zip it up.
  9. Choose the red SEND ARTWORK button on the TigerPress website to transmit your zipped file.
